RAWHIDE INFORMATION

1.  What Is Rawhide?

Rawhide is the Inner Layer of the Hide of a hoofed animal it is NOT the outside leather! (We sell ONLY Beef) Yes, it is edible by your dog. Rawhide is high in protein and low in fat.

That means in moderation...it will not add a lot of calories to your dogs diet.

WE SELL RAWHIDE MADE FROM 100% U.S.A. BEEF HIDES

100% AMERICAN MADE RAWHIDE

TOXIN AND PRESERVATIVE FREE

2.  Why give Rawhide?

As our slogan says...Giv’em What They Crave”

For thousands of years...Canines have chewed on the hides and bones of their prey.  Dogs LOVE to Chew!

FOR HEALTH:  Plaque and tartar damage the teeth and gums. Disease begins when the gums become inflamed (red, swollen, and sore). The gums will then separate from the teeth, creating pockets where bacteria, plaque, and tartar build up. This will cause increased damage and eventually tooth and bone loss.  The bacteria from the inflamed areas can enter the bloodstream and affect major body organs.  Most commonly affected are the dog’s heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver.

Therefore, Rawhide chews can provide some dental benefits to your dog by helping to scrape away tartar and plaque where harmful bacteria can hide. This reduces your dog's chance of developing gum disease and tooth loss increasing their overall health.

ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR VETERINARIAN WITH DENTAL QUESTIONS
AND FOR ANNUAL DENTAL EXAMS

STRESS RELIEF:  Dogs actually RELAX when they chew...Chewing allows them to exercise in a non-destructive manner and allows them to release excess energy.

SAFER:  Rawhide Chews are “safer” to give then Antler and Smoked/Dried Bones, or commercially Steamed/Cleaned Bones... Why? Rawhide is a softer product which has some “give” to them while being chewed....Antlers are very hard which can result in cracked or broken teeth... Antler has “no give” on the teeth so it is like chewing on cement or rock...The “smoked” or cooked bones are also very hard but can also chip off or splinter because they are so dry!  Rawhide is also a more Natural product to chew on then commercial bones made of plastics and nylons and much more satisfying for your dog.  If you know your dog is a “gulper”... choose a size of rawhide larger then the dog can swallow and take it away after short periods of chewing, let re-harden for another time.

PETS SHOULD ALWAYS BE SUPERVISED WITH TOYS OR BONES OF ANY KIND AND THEY SHOULD BE TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM WHEN YOU FEEL THEY HAVE HAD ENOUGH FOR THAT DAY

or THEY HAVE BECOME TO SMALL AND CAN BE SWALLOWED WHOLE.

Moderation is the key to anything you give your dog!

3.  Is Rawhide Good for my dog?

Yes! Our 100% American Made Rawhide are the best you can buy... Our rawhide is Chemical/Toxin and Preservative Free! Made from only U.S.A. Beef hide! Our rawhide is washed in a hydrogen peroxide bath to clean it, rinsed, formed and allowed to dry naturally in climate controlled rooms... Hydrogen Peroxide is NOT a toxic chemical and evaporates off completely during the drying phase...So, the only thing left is the beef skin which can be called a "natural" product because nothing is added.

As with anything...give in moderation & observe your pet while they have a rawhide chew or any type of bone, toy, stuffed animal, etc. that they can chew up and/or swallow in pieces...

Rawhide Chews are meant to be used to increase dental health and hygiene and to satisfy their urge to chew...They should not be used as a food source or food supplement/treatDo Not allow your pet to consume whole rawhide's at one time... when it starts to get soft and they start to get large pieces off...put it away and let it re-harden for another day...give a new rawhide if not finished chewing yet.  When the rawhide chew becomes small enough to fit in their mouth...THROW IT AWAY!

Use caution with Puppies under 1 year old... their systems are not fully developed and ready to digest a lot of rawhide.  Let teething puppies chew on a rawhide until it begins to get soft and they can get pieces off... then take it away and let it “re-harden” ...give another new rawhide if they are not finished chewing yet...Rotate between 4-5 rawhide's of different flavors and/or shapes to avoid any boredom and let re-harden to give again later...Common Sense on your part goes a long way!
